After this year's Film & Lecture Series, we want to keep improving our content and logistics.

If you attended an event, we hope you had as much fun as we did organizing it! If you did not attend, we'd still like to get your suggestions for future programs.

Volunteer Clean Up After Epic Winter Storms

Tower Garden

The three late winter nor'easters deposited a great deal of unwanted debris throughout Essex County.

Over the weekend of May 5, more than twenty-five volunteers cleaned up trash on Greenbelt property surrounding Pine Island in Newbury, including tires, industrial barrels, coolers, a lawnmower and even a refrigerator!

The common thread of conversation, however, was plastic. If plastic items are not disposed of properly, they pollute our environment for a very long time. Please recycle!

Rowley, Merrimac Conservation Projects Move Forward

Tower Garden

Rowley residents voted overwhelmingly to reaffirm the Town’s commitment of $100,000 in Community Preservation Funds toward the Mehaffey Farm Conservation Restriction. After this last major step, Greenbelt is now moving full-steam ahead toward closing on this 28.8-acre conservation project later this spring.

In Merrimac, voters at Town Meeting unanimously approved $10,000 from the Town’s Open Space Fund toward Greenbelt’s purchase of 22.9 acres on Battis Road next to the Merrimac Town Forest.  Greenbelt will now ramp up our community campaign to fundraise the remaining amount, including guided site walks coming soon Learn More/Donate

Local Tree Service, Rotarians Help Greenbelt Stewardship

Tower Garden

Greenbelt was thrilled to be the recipient of two volunteer projects at the Donovan Reservation in Hamilton on National Arbor Day, April 27.

Matt Natti, the owner of Cape Ann Tree Service and a long-time supporter of Greenbelt, donated a crew and equipment for a full day of tree work. They made a big dent in cleaning up the damage from last winter's storms.

Also at the Donovan Reservation, seventeen members of the Beverly Rotary planted 100 fingerling trees donated by the Rotary. The newly planted sugar maples, red maples and flowering dogwoods will help improve the health of our environment.

Greenbelt offers our heartfelt thanks to Cape Ann Tree Service and the Beverly Rotary!
