Legal and Privacy

Greenbelt respects your privacy, and we are committed to protecting it. The following policy presents an overview of how we collect, store and manage your private information.

Collection and Storage of Personal Information

Greenbelt collects information that is necessary for becoming an active member, including full name, address, phone number and email address. Donor information is stored in a password-protected database.

Use of Personal Information

Personal information is used primarily for purposes related to membership. We use mailing addresses to send information related to Greenbelt events or your membership status.

Greenbelt never rents or sells member information. Occasionally Greenbelt will participate in a list exchange program with other nonprofit organizations. Only name and address information is exchanged. If you do not wish to be included in a list exchange, please notify us and we will honor your request.

If you provide an email address it will be added to our listserv. The listserv is managed in-house and we never exchange, rent or sell email addresses. If you do not wish to be on the listserv, please notify us and we will honor your request.

Greenbelt publishes the names and membership levels of donors in our Annual Report. The Annual Report is distributed to all members of the organization. If you wish to be anonymous in the listing, please notify us and we will honor your request.

Online Profile Updates

If you complete the Profile update form and share your personally identifying information, this information will be used only to provide you with more targeted content. We may use your contact information to send further information about our organization or to contact you when necessary. You may always opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the "Opt Out" section below.

Credit Card Security

If a credit card is used to make a donation or purchase, the charge is processed in-house (no third party involvement) and the credit card number is not stored electronically after use. On-line transactions made via credit card are encrypted via SSL (secure socket layer) technology.
